Policies Regarding Infants
The infant program serves infants from birth through
to 24 months. The program offers a warm nurturing
and loving atmosphere. The educators provide lots of
affectionate physical and verbal contact. The
program is relaxed yet stimulating. Meals and naps
are based on the child’s individual needs and
planned in close consultation with the parents.
Regular parent teacher communication is essential
and an integral part of our program. All staff have
specialized training in infant care.
This program is designed to enhance the five major
areas of learning through a balance of
child-directed and teacher-initiated activities. The
program will enhance the infants’ independence and
problem-solving abilities through our responsive,
nurturing and stimulating environment. We recognize
that each child will achieve developmental
milestones at different times. Our program is
designed to foster self esteem and independent
success.
The five major areas of learning
are: Cognitive, Language Development, Physical
Development, Social Development, and Emotional
Development Parents/Caregivers KidCorp believes that
our childcare center is an extension of the family;
we are “sharing the caring”. We share the same
ideals and philosophies of child care. Parents are
encouraged to participate on a regular basis as much
as they are able. Teachers provide parents with
written and verbal information about their child on
a daily basis. Parents are encouraged to communicate
about their child on a daily basis. We value the
thoughts and ideas of parents/caregivers. Every
family enters our facility with different needs and
requirements. We respect the parent/child
relationship and the staff will partner in leaning
and working together. When parents and staff
communicate, the children’s needs are met more
effectively.
Mothers who are breast-feeding should advise their
primary caregiver and ensure that contact phone
numbers are given and an alternate feeding plan
arranged if the Mother is unable to return for the
scheduled feeding. There will be provided an area
for breastfeeding mothers including an adult size
chair. Regular Christmas Concert followed by a home
cooked turkey dinner where all children, caregivers
and educators mix and mingle. All parents should be
involved in the center as much as possible parents
could volunteer time, or arrange field trips to
their place of employment or if they have a special
skill they could drop by and share with us. If they
do not wish to be directly involved they could send
in junk for crafts or dress up clothes etc. Parents
are encouraged to attend special parent nights. At
this event the center’s activities and children’s
development progress will be discussed. There will
also be a parent board and a monthly newsletter. The
staff will keep parents informed of their child’s
development on a daily basis. We also celebrate
Mothers Day, Fathers Day and Grand Parents Day by
inviting families for an afternoon tea KidCorp also
has an annual Family fun Day of swimming at the
Aquarena followed by a BBQ and carnival games,
clowns, face painting, fish ponds etc.
A Parent Information Area is available as well as a
parent bulletin board to inform parents of current
events and up to date infant information. Parents
will be able to communicate daily with their primary
caregiver by access the phone in the infant room.
